FAQ
Are specimens real?
Mostly yes — well-loved pets, nature-walk finds after natural death, and one conservation-focused insect farm. A piece will say so if it is not.
Sustainably or ethically sourced?
No harm to make the work. Bones from forage after the animal has passed. No roadkill preservation currently. Friends’ insect pets, walks, and one farm that helps insect populations.
Wedding bouquet?
Ship before it dries if you can. Or dry it bundled, upside down or on its side, then ship for a custom terrarium or frame.
Storefront?
Online first. In person at tattoo expos and fairs — see Events and Instagram @theLeakyFawcett.
Frames and supplies?
Thrift, antiques, eBay, Marketplace, garage sales. Glue, moss, and flowers from local shops, friends’ gardens, Michaels, Joann, sometimes Amazon.
Imperfect shadowbox?
Basic shadowboxes are second-hand. Accents and fabric are added; the frame was previously loved so prices stay lower.
Skulls and bones?
Etsy, hiking finds, and one contact who hunts to protect livestock.
Can I send a find?
Sometimes. Check the species first — some are protected and illegal to keep.
Custom piece?
Start with specimen, frame or terrarium, and budget. Then colors and vibe. The goal is a piece Sam would keep on her own wall.
Pet remains?
Long process. Cleaning is still being learned. Animals only. Discuss first, then ship prepared remains for a custom piece.
Trades?
Often yes — art, daggers, swords, taxidermy. Not tattoos.
Pinning classes?
Not yet.
